Salahuddin refuses to speculate as excitement grows over who will be in new cabinet [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: As the anticipation, excitement and speculation about the new unity government's list of cabinet members builds, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) vice president, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub seems to be indicating that the announcement could be made as early as tomorrow.

"I choose not to comment on this (the cabinet line up). Let Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim make the announcement for this as speculated, like sometime tomorrow perhaps," he said briefly.

Earlier, speculation was rife that the Prime Minister would be announcing the highly-anticipated list for the new unity government's cabinet line up as early as today or even tomorrow.

However so far there has been no developments or related news on the matter from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

In fact, the PMO has released the itinerary and list of engagements Anwar has, where he will be returning to Tambun tomorrow for the first time after being sworn in as the country's new Prime Minister eight days ago.

Taking such a schedule into account, Anwar will be in Ipoh and will only return to Putrajaya in the later half of the day after attending a kenduri with the people right after Priday prayers at the Muhammad Al-Fateh Mosque in Taman Jati.

Therefore it is not impossible for Anwar to announce the list of his choice of cabinet administration tomorrow, and if it does not happen then it could be sometime next week.

The Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah is expected to be somewhere overseas this Saturday.

When asked about the announcement on the unity government's cabinet line up, Salahuddin said that Parliamentarians including himself were leaving it up to Anwar to decide.

"I still do not know. Chin Tong (Iskandar Puteri member of parliament Liew Chin Tong) and I will leave it to the prime minister to choose the very best among us (parliamentarians). So let him (Anwar) decide," he said.

Earlier, Salahuddin who is also Johor Pakatan Harapan (PH) chief, paid a visit to victims of a storm in the Parliamentary Constituency of Pulai. Also present was Liew, who is the state assemblyman for Perling.

Last Friday, during his first press conference after taking his oath as the country's 10th Prime Minister, Anwar informed that the new unity government that he will spearhead will have a much smaller cabinet.

Since then there has been all sorts of speculation about the members of cabinet that will be led by Anwar including the two deputy prime minister posts which is said will be given to representatives from Barisan Nasional (BN) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
