Malaysia wins 63 gold medals at ICQCC 2022

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia bagged 63 gold medals at the International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC) 2022 held in Jakarta, Indonesia recently.

Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) director-general Datuk Abdul Latif Abu Seman, in a statement, said eight innovation projects from seven organisations also won the highest prime gold quality award.

The organisations are STMicroelectronics Sdn Bhd, Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sdn Bhd (Proton), Projek Lebuhraya Usahasama Berhad (PLUS), Telekom Malaysia, the Customs Department, Miri City Council and Ampang Jaya Municipal Council.

"A total of 65 innovations were presented during the convention, and we are happy to learn that 63 were awarded the gold recognition for innovation and improvement.

"MPC is also glad to see that some of these organisations are government bodies, which shows the importance of innovation and quality improvement in both private and public sectors.

"Malaysia was represented by 65 teams from 41 organisations comprising 328 individuals, and I am delighted to see a huge representation from the country at this year's ICQCC."

He said ICQCC is a prominent international platform for productivity and quality practitioners, as well as organisations from various countries, to congregate and compete against each other to improve their innovation projects.

"It showcases the best improvement or innovation practices from all over the world, especially from countries in the Asian region."

Abdul Latif added the annual convention also serves as a place for exchanging ideas, experience, and expertise on productivity, innovation, and quality control practices.

"Participation is open to all improvement and innovation teams, such as Quality Control Circles and Six Sigma Team, regardless of the type of business or operation."
