Ex-minister remarries

PETALING JAYA: Former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Parliament) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has tied the knot for the second time.

Wan Junaidi, 77, was reported to have recently married Fauziah Sanusi in Kuching.

According to local Malay daily Utusan Sarawak in a Facebook post, the newlyweds' photo went viral after their solemnisation ceremony.

Wan Junaidi's first wife Fiona Norjanah Sim Abdullah died seven months ago at the age of 70.

Utusan Sarawak reported that the ex-minister hosted a reception at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur tonight.

Among the VIPs reported to attend the dinner are Sarawak premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg and senior federal politicians.

Wan Junaidi, a retired police officer, has three children from his previous marriage.

He has been a seven-term MP since 1990.

In the 15th General Elections, he chose not to defend the Santubong parliamentary seat saying he is giving way to younger leaders.

Wan Junaidi said he was "enjoying retirement".

He has also served as a deputy speaker, deputy home minister, environment minister; and entrepreneur and cooperative development minister, before his last role as a law minister throughout his three-decade long career.
