Batang Kali Landslide: Six bodies of victims identified

KUALA LUMPUR: A nine-year-old boy was among six Batang Kali landslide victims whose identities were made public today.

A statement from the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) said the six were Lim Wei Xin, Hong Mei Jing , Nurul Azmani, Lai Lee Yin, Lai Lee Koo (female-adult) and the boy, Tong Kai.

The first five were all female.

Nadma said six out of 21 victims were identified either by their next-of-kin or through fingerprint identification test.

Post-mortem and other body identification processes involving remaining victims are still underway.

Meanwhile, five victims are currently receiving treatments at hospitals, while another three were allowed to return home yesterday.

Four victims receiving treatment at Selayang Hospital are Yam Lee Yen (41), Tan Ei An (43), Choo Wai Lun (34), and Loh Teng Shui (44).

Another one is Ling Zi Zuan, 19, who is receiving treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

The three who were allowed to go home are Ng Wei Lun (13), Mg Tan (34), and Sandy Cheah (32).

The pre-dawn incident at three campsites located near Gohtong Jaya involved 94 victims.

No less than 23 people from SJKC Mun Choong, seven of them teachers as well as their friends and families, had joined a camping trip to the organic farm.

They had been camping there since Wednesday and were supposed to have left on Saturday morning.

However, the campsite was hit by a landslide around 2am yesterday.

The deadly landslide has so far claimed 23 lives, with 10 people still listed as missing.
