Rescuers comb three sectors at Batang Kali landslide site

BATANG KALI: When the earth crashed down on the camp sites at the Fathers' Organic Farm last Friday, 65 sleeping adults and 29 children were caught off guard, killing 24 of them and nine are still missing.

Fire and Rescue Department's data showed that all 14 adults including camp staff located at Sector D were saved.

The search and rescue operation which entered the fifth day today covered four sectors - Sector A (hill view), Sector B (farm view), Sector C (river side), and Sector D (green house).

There were 25 adults and 17 children at Sector A on that fateful day; nine adults and three children (Sector B) and 17 adults and nine children (Sector C).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division Assistant Director Hafisham Mohd Noor said the search operation would focus on Sector A, Sector B and Sector C.

As of press time, there were no updates on the nine missing victims.

Since the first day (Dec 16), police have deployed six tracker dogs from the K9 unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Last night, the police Facebook page put up a post paying tribute to the half a dozen dogs of the K9 unit who have been working hand in hand alongside their handlers and other personnel in looking for the remaining victims.
