Captain Norazman Mahmud named CAAM CEO

KUALA LUMPUR: Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) chairman Tan Sri Mohd Khairul Adib Abdul Rahman today announced the appointment of Captain Norazman Mahmud as the authority's new chief executive officer (CEO), effective Jan 1, 2023.

Norazman, who is currently CAAM deputy CEO (regulatory), replaces Datuk Chester Voo, who resigned.

The appointment was made under Section 21 of the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia Act 2017 (Act 788), said Khairul Adib in a statement.

He said the appointment was made following a comprehensive assessment by CAAM members to find the most qualified candidate to lead the authority.

He said a proposal on the appointment was submitted to Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

"The transport minister expressed his confidence with the proposal from members of the authority and for CAAM to continue its positive momentum in 2023."

Norazman has more than 30 years of experience in the aviation industry.

He was with Malaysia Airlines Bhd before joining CAAM in 2020 as flight operations director.

He can pilot various types of Boeing and Airbus aircraft and is the first pilot in Malaysia to be rated on the A350 aircraft.

"He has played an important role in CAAM's comprehensive transformation process in the past two years," said Khairul Adib.--BERNAMA
