Batang Kali-Genting Highlands road to reopen tomorrow at 5pm

KUALA LUMPUR: The Batang Kali- Genting Highlands road in Hulu Selangor, closed since the Dec 16 landslide, will open to traffic from 5pm tomorrow.

The Public Works Department (JKR) today said a temporary route would be opened with only one lane and was limited to workers in Genting Highlands with an employer's letter, and class one vehicles (cars, taxis and multi-purpose vehicles) and class 6 vehicles (motorcycles and scooters).

The department said motorists were not allowed to stop at the section where the landslide occurred.

"Users should be careful and adhere to signs as works to monitor the slope are still being carried out."

The department urged road users to use alternative routes — such as the Ulu Yam-Batu Caves and the Kuala Lumpur-Ipoh routes — to reduce congestion.
