PM: No new skyscrapers [NSTTV]

PUTRAJAYA: There will be no new skyscrapers built under my administration, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said there were enough skyscrapers in the capital.

He said, the budget to build skyscrapers should instead be used to help the small, medium enterprises (SMEs).

"We have enough…there are the Twin Towers, TRX and Telekom Tower. Under my administration, I do not have the desire to build a new one.

"Among the initiatives, maybe we should focus on the hygiene and beauty of food stalls that have often been neglected.

"So, I have made it a norm to visit these food stalls every Friday to inspect the condition with my own eyes, and my visit to these warungs including Tanglin near Bukit Aman proved they have been neglected," he said when delivering his speech at the 2023 Budget Dialogue at the Finance Ministry here today.

He said there was a real effort to ensure that the vast majority of Malaysians benefit from these so-called economic initiatives or reforms.

"What's wrong with having 30 to 40 clean and beautiful petty eateries that will benefit tens of thousands of the poor.

"I hope other friends, the big companies and government-linked companies will take up this new orientation for their corporate social responsibility programmes to help these groups.
