PM extends condolences to family of Gopal Sri Ram

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today conveyed his condolences to the family of senior deputy public prosecutor and former Federal Court judge Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram, who died around noon.

"May all the family's undertakings be eased and they remain strong upon dealing (with) this sad news," he said in a Twitter post.

Sri Ram was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital here last week for a lung infection.

The 79-year-old was the lead prosecutor in 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) corruption trial involving former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He was also leading the prosecution of Najib's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, in trials involving corruption in a solar hybrid power project for 369 rural schools in Sarawak and money laundering amounting to RM7 million.
