PM Lee and Anwar share 'fruitful discussion'

SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said he and his Malaysian counterpart Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim shared a fruitful discussion earlier today.

The discussion included how Singapore and Kuala Lumpur can make progress on outstanding bilateral issues.

"We also witnessed the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding which will promote cooperation in new and emerging areas, specifically on digital and green economies, and cyber security,' Lee said at an official lunch in honour of Anwar at The Istana here today.

As close friends and neighbours, he said, the destinies of Singapore and Malaysia were intertwined.

"When we work constructively together, we produce win-win outcomes with tangible benefits for our peoples and businesses.

"I am confident that with Prime Minister Anwar's support, Singapore-Malaysia relations can reach greater heights," he added.

Lee said he looked forward to meeting Anwar again soon, including welcoming him back in Singapore later this year for their annual Leaders' Retreat.

Anwar is in Singapore for a one-day official visit, his first as prime minister since helming the role last year.
