7 arrested over video of man throwing whisky bottle off balcony onto busy road

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested seven people believed to be involved in the incident of a man in a video swinging an empty whisky bottle from a high-storey apartment onto a busy road at Jalan Cendana, Kampung Baru, which recently circulated on social media platforms.

Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the first arrest was made between 3.45pm and 9.15pm involving five individuals.

"The five people arrested included three men aged between 21 and 24; and two women, both aged 23, to assist in the investigation.

"The second arrest was made between 1.30am and 2.15am, where a 20-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were nabbed," said Noor Dellhan in a statement today, adding that they were all arrested in Dang Wangi area.

He said police also seized a mobile phone and a pair of clothes.

"One of them was tested positive for ketamine drug and is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

"Out of the seven arrested, two are remanded for three days from today until Feb 7 for further investigations, while the remand request for the others was rejected and they will be released."

The case is being investigated under Section 268/336 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

Noor Dellhan advised any party affected by the action to come forward and lodge a police report.

"The public is advised not to get involved with anything against the law as action will be taken against offenders," he said.

A one minute and 43 seconds video recording was uploaded by the owner of the Tiktok account with the handle of @syrupboy, showing the man's inconsiderate act which went viral recently.

The bottle was thrown towards the highway on the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Expressway (Akleh) from the direction of Ampang towards the city centre where there was a traffic congestion.
