Service disruption between Bandaraya and Masjid Jamek LRT stations

KUALA LUMPUR: The Light Rail Transit (LRT) service between Bandaraya and Masjid Jamek stations was disrupted this evening.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said in a Facebook post that the disruption was caused by a damaged bridge structure at the LRT tracks.

He said passengers from Masjid Jamek heading to Putra Heights had to change train at the Hang Tuah station, causing the stop to be crowded.

"The Prasarana management has deployed Rapid Rail and Rapid KL staff to deal with "crowd control" at the stations and provided shuttle buses as a temporary mitigation measure.

"Although the situation is very crowded during peak hour, it is controlled.

"To the passengers, sorry for the inconvenience encountered. Repair works will be expedited," he said.

On Jan 28, the LRT service on the Ampang-Sri Petaling route was disrupted over safety factors after the track alignment was found to be kinked near the Bandaraya LRT Station.
