Raub joins Kuantan and Jerantut as among flood-hit districts in Pahang

KUANTAN: Three districts in Pahang are inundated by floodwaters as of today morning, including Raub the latest district to be affected.

As of 9am, a total of 233 victims from 78 families were housed at six relief centres in Kuantan, Jerantut and Raub.

A state Civil Defence Force (APM) spokesman said Kuantan has 200 victims from 65 families at four relief centres while Jerantut has 12 people from five families at a relief centre.

"Raub was hit by floods around 5.30am today after Sungai Ulu Lipis burst its banks forcing 21 villagers at Kampung Ulu Sungai, Batu Malim to be moved to the Ulu Sungai multipurpose hall.

"The water level at Sungai Ulu Lipis increased following heavy downpour at the forest reserve at Hulu Perak last night," he said in a statement today.

He said the weather across the state has been promising and expects a further drop in victims especially in Kuantan today.
