Azmin Ali taking a 'short break' from politics

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali today announced that he will take a short break from politics.

However, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) information chief, on his Twitter page, said he is determined to continue to serve the people and the country.

"To all Malaysians, this is a momentary break in my career to serve the people and think about new plans.

"However, my determination to serve the country and the people will not waver," he said.

PN had previously stated that it had not ruled out the possibility of nominating Azmin as Selangor Menteri Besar if he wins the state election, which needs to be held before June this year.

Selangor PN election machinery deputy director Captain (Rtd) Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanafi said opportunities are always open for Azmin, who is former Selangor MB and Bukit Antarabangsa state assemblyman, to return to lead the state.

Dr Zulkafperi said PN is also confident of heading in that direction based on Azmin's experience as Selangor MB from 2014 to 2018 and Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman since 2008.
