Zahid hopes his ministry will get fair allocation in 2023 Budget

SUBANG JAYA: The Rural and Regional Development Ministry hopes that it will get a fair allocation in the 2023 Budget for them to embark on various initiatives to boost entrepreneurial opportunities and infrastructure.

Its minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also deputy prime minister, said if there was a reduction in funds, he hoped the amount would not be significant.

"We are not only focusing on (improving) rural infrastructure but also supporting the government's effort by creating opportunities for the younger and new generation of entrepreneurs.

"We are also providing business opportunities at rural areas and holding the technical based techno-usahawan programmes.

"We have these four sectors in mind and I hope there will not be much reduction, if there is any.

"As promised by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Finance Minister, my ministry is to be given priority so that we can hold our programmes and develop the rural agenda," said Zahid after witnessing the Exchange of Documents ceremony between the ministry's Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions (InstitutTVET@KKDW) and 18 local and global companies.

Anwar is set to table the revised 2023 Budget tomorrow.
