Raja Permaisuri Agong makes impromptu visit to Galeri Prima

KUALA LUMPUR: Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah made a surprise visit to Galeri Prima in Jalan Riong, Bangsar today.

The queen, being a regular visitor to the gallery, arrived at around 11am to enjoy an art exhibition.

Galeri Prima head Azlynn Aziz said the queen is very passionate in the arts and has frequently visited the gallery.

"We were not prepared for the queen's sudden visit and of course, we were nervous despite meeting her so many times," said Azlynn.

She added that Tunku Azizah had previously exhibited her handmade batik collections exclusively at Galeri Prima.

"The queen loves paintings or art that have elements of the past, as she is able to recollect and recognise the buildings drawn in the painting," Azlynn told the New Straits Times.

She said Galeri Prima holds the distinction of being the first gallery to display Tunku Azizah's collection outside of Istana Negara.

Azlynn added that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tunku Azizah made their first visit to the gallery in February 2019 soon after they became the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong.
