Supply Bill 2023 passed in Dewan Rakyat voice vote [Updated]

KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat today passed the Supply Bill 2023 at the policy stage with a majority voice vote.

The voice vote was called by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Seri Johari Abdul after Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim finished his winding-up speech on the bill.

Johari then proceeded to announce that the bill had been passed, with its first reading through a clear majority voice in the August House.

The 2023 Budget will now proceed to its second reading before being brought to Dewan Negara.

On Feb 24, Anwar unveiled the revised national 2023 Budget, in which the government will maintain its spending with a total expenditure of RM388.1 billion this year.

The RM388.1 billion allocation was the largest to be tabled in Parliament, which exceeded last year's budget of RM332.1 billion.

It was earlier reported that a total of 167 MPs participated in the policy level debate of the Supply Bill at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.
