Menu Rahmah helped eateries increase income, says minister [NSTTV]

KOTA KINABALU: Menu Rahmah has helped food operators increase their income, said Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.

"Based on the feedback from operators taking part in the initiative, Menu Rahmah has attracted more customers to their premises.

"Their income can be increased through the quantity of sales, which cushions the (profit) margin reduction (by selling lower-priced food).

"At the same time, they are also involved in welfare efforts to assist those in need," he said in a statement.

Up to today, 1,531 business premises, including 105 in Sabah, have participated in the Menu Rahmah initiative.

Salahuddin said the government was committed to promoting eateries taking part in the initiative.

"The ministry has created a portal to enable the public to get information on eateries offering Menu Rahmah.

"Food operators can also register at menurahmah.kpdn.gov.my."

He said the state Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has appointed 170 dedicated district retailers and 89 dedicated district wholesalers to monitor the supply of basic necessities in the state.

Up to March 11, the ministry had inspected 16,285 premises in the state.

From the inspection, 304 cases of violations under various laws were found, with a total compound of RM47,200 and seizures worth RM1,059,392.

During his visit to the state capital today, Salahuddin visited the Kota Kinabalu Central Market to monitor the prices of goods and launched Menu Rahmah at a restaurant near here.
