Lorry driver dies, while attendant suffers serious injuries

GOMBAK: A lorry driver died while an attendant suffered serious injuries in an accident that occurred at KM31.6 along the Karak-Kampung Sungai Cinchin highway here in the wee hours of the morning.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Services Department director, Morni Mamat said that they received a distress call about the accident at around 1.19am today.

"Eight firemen in one fire engine from the Selayang Fire Station were despatched to the scene of the accident.

"As soon as they arrived, we were informed that the accident involved two lorries at the scene," he said in a statement today.

Morni said that the driver of one of the lorries was found pinned in the driver's seat.

"The team of firemen at the scene took a few minutes to free the victim who was pinned in the driver's seat of one of the lorries.

"The driver was confirmed to have died at the scene of the accident by the Health Ministry's medical team that arrived soon after. The body was then handed over to the police for further action.

"Meanwhile the attendant, a Myanmar national in his 40s, was reported to have suffered serious injuries and he was sent to hospital by the medical team," he said.
