No stop in operation to locate missing Bukit Ibam youth, assures Rompin cop

ROMPIN: Police have not suspended their search to locate Nur Hafizah Zailan, who went missing after she was swept away by strong currents while crossing a suspension bridge at Kampung Aur, Bukit Ibam, near here on March 3.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Azahari Mukhtar said the search and rescue (SAR) operation was conducted for 14 days after the youth was reported missing.

"The SAR operation which began on March 3 ended on March 16. Now, efforts to find the missing person is being carried out with support from the Muadzam Shah fire station, Civil Defence Force, navy and nearby villagers.

"The missing person case remains open and the operation will be continued until the person is found," he said in a statement today.

On March 3, Nur Hafizah was reported missing after she was swept away by strong currents while trying to cross the suspension bridge during the floods in the area about 4am.

Police along with firemen and several other agencies were involved in the SAR operations which continued after the floodwaters receded but they could not locate Nur Hafizah.

Several 'heart-wrenching' videos were shared on social media showing her family members including father Zailan Abu Mani, 49, waiting daily near the damaged suspension bridge where Nur Hafizah was last seen, hoping for some update on his missing daughter.
