KOTA BARU: The Kelantan Religious Affairs Department (JHEAIK) issued warning notices to seven men for wearing thigh-length shorts recently.

The department's chief assistant director Mohd Fadzuli Mohd Zain said the men were slapped with the notices during an operation on Friday conducted at a sisha outlet in Gertak Chaber, Tanah Merah.

"The joint operation involved several agencies. Apart from JHEAIK, the other agencies that took part in the operation were the Health department and the National Anti-Drug Agency.

"The raid was carried out based on public tip-offs on the activity being held in the area," he said when contacted.

Mohd Fadzuli said also seized in the operation were seven 'shisha' pipes.

"They also issued a warning notice to the operator," he added.

During the same operation which ended around midnight he said the health department issued 11 compound notices totalling RM1,900.

It is learnt that five of the notices worth about RM1,300, were issued after the restaurant operator was found to have breached food safety regulations while the other notices were for violating the Control of Tobacco Product Regulations 2004.
