What's the issue? I'm not naked, right? - Aliff Syukri

KUALA LUMPUR: Celebrity entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri, 36, has defended the concept of the music video of his latest Raya song 'Cak Kun Cak Raya', describing it as "art and entertainment".

He said there shouldn't be any issue with the video since he was not naked or showcasing sexy dance moves.

"The concept came from my makeup artist... because in a production, I am not the only one working (on it). I don't see any problem when it comes to the dance moves.

"There is no issue... clothes we wore are not sexy or revealing and there's no nudity involved.

"This, to me, is a subjective matter. If anyone feels it is too obscene, then that is their opinion.

"I am fine because I don't expose my aurat, hold hands, or wear make-up... All this is just art," he said.

Describing himself as Malaysia's number-one entertainer, Aliff said he was confident that fans were waiting for his latest song. He said he knows how to "toe the line" for the song to be considered "radio-and-television-friendly".

"Please give me space to create and entertain. Please accept me as an artist. I'm sure no inappropriate video will be released. I'm will take care of everyone's feelings, especially my family. Consider this as entertainment, don't take it seriously.

"If you don't want to see it, just skip it, there's no compulsion," he said.

Meanwhile, Aliff urged those who were unhappy with his conduct to not disturb his family.

He said all criticism should be pointed at him.

"Thank you to those who insulted, disparaged, or even praised me.

"As a public figure, I can't stop people from making comments. (But) I only ask for one thing, don't involve my family," he said.

Aliff sparked debates after he appeared in his latest video wearing super skin-tight baju Melayu which appeared to be a spandex jumpsuit.

His dancers were also wearing tight shirts complete with samping and songkok.

Last year, Aliff was called up by the Communications and Multimedia Commission over a posting on his Instagram account for the Kelepok Raya song that was linked to elements described as contrary to local norms and culture.
