KUALA LUMPUR: Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil he will be meeting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim next week to discuss 5G direction.
"(As the minister in charge), I will meet the PM on Tuesday to discuss the direction of 5G, as well as the cabinet decision on the matter," he said in his speech during the Federal Territory Nur Ramadan Programme held at Ar-Rahah Mosque in Kampung Kerinchi here.
Present was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Later, he told media that the meeting is to ensure that the people from all walks of life will be able to benefit the technology at an affordable price.
Previously, Anwar had said the government would rigorously review the rollout of the 5G network in Malaysia.
He said the government would review the policy as the previous administration did not manage it transparently.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Fahmi announced that an affordable internet will be launched by end of next for public housing projects (PPR).
