KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has expressed his appreciation towards media practitioners in the country in conjunction with the National Journalists Day.
Zahid who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister gave his recognition to the media members for their contribution towards the development of the country and the society in a video posted on Facebook.
"To all fellow journalists who are often unsung heroes, thank you for all your contributions to the development of the country and the civil society.
"Keep on creating and delivering quality information. Practise journalistic ethics in this borderless world. Happy National Journalists Day from me," he said.
May 29 has been gazetted as National Journalists Day or Hawana in conjunction with the publication of the first edition of the Utusan Melayu newspaper on May 29, 1939.
The three-day National Journalists Day 2023 (Hawana 2023) celebration at the Casuarina Hotel in Ipoh, was attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
