PASIR MAS: A 2-month-old baby girl was among 10 foreigners detained by the police for entering the country illegally yesterday.
They were waiting for a bus at a station in Bandar Tasek Raja here when they were arrested.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Kama Azural Mohamed said a police team went to the bus station following a public tip-off about 4.30pm.
"At the bus station, police saw eight men, a woman and a baby waiting for transportation to leave Kelantan.
"The foreigners failed to produce any valid travel documents when asked by the officers. They were later arrested," he said in a statement.
Kama Azural said initial investigations showed that they had entered to Kelantan by passenger boats.
"They have admitted that they entered this country by crossing the Golok river early in the morning and were heading to Kuala Lumpur to look for jobs."
He said police believed they had entered Kelantan via an illegal jetty in Rantau Panjang.
He said the baby and the others, aged 20 to 40, were being held for further action.
