IPOH: Residents of Arena Kepayang Putra in Fair Park, Ipoh, are cleaning up after experiencing the worst flood in 40 years, during which various belongings, including six luxury cars, were damaged.
Among the significant losses were six luxury cars — including a Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, BMW, Toyota Alphard, and a Honda sedan— all severely damaged by the rising waters.
According to China Press, Datuk Amaluddin Mohd Ismail, the owner of the luxury cars, recounted how the sudden flood left him unable to move his vehicles.
Initially unconcerned by the rising water, as minor flooding was common in the neighbourhood, he was caught off guard when the water surged into his home within just 30 minutes, damaging both his vehicles and furniture.
Amaluddin helplessly watched as his cars and furniture were submerged by the floodwaters, causing devastating damage.
The full extent of his financial losses remains yet to be estimated.
The relentless rain on Sunday, December 1, which lasted over 20 hours, triggered severe flooding in Ipoh's Arena Kepayang Putra, leaving nearly 250 households affected.
Residents described it as the worst flood in over 40 years.
Once the waters receded, streets were left covered in mud, debris, and discarded items such as tree branches, plastic bags, and food packaging.
Amid the property damage, residents were seen dragging soaked furniture out of their homes, desperately working to clean up and salvage what they could from the aftermath of the disaster.
