Monsoon rains expected to persist until Dec 16

KUALA LUMPUR: The monsoon rains are expected to continue until Dec 16, based on the latest weather model analysis by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a press statement today, they said the situation could potentially cause continuous rainfall in the eastern and northern parts of Peninsular Malaysia, as well as in Sabah, throughout the period.

"MetMalaysia has issued a continuous rain warning (severe and cautionary) for east and north of Peninsular Malaysia, effective until Dec 11.

"A warning for strong winds and rough seas in the South China Sea waters is in effect until Dec 12.

"The public is advised to regularly check MetMalaysia's website at www.met.gov.my, the department's official social media platforms, and download the myCuaca app for the latest and most accurate information," it said.

It was previously reported that continuous heavy rain at the severe-level continuous rain warning, or the  'orange' warning level, was expected to affect several districts in Terengganu and Pahang until this Wednesday.

MetMalaysia also reported that continuous rain at the "yellow" level (continuous rain) is forecasted for Perlis, Kelantan, and several districts in Perak, Terengganu, Pahang, and Johor.
