KUALA LUMPUR: Many Sports Toto shops around the country were packed yesterday as punters made a final dash for a chance to win the RM121 million jackpot.
There were long queues that stretched into the streets, with many even braving the rain, to buy their tickets, and in some shops a bit of drama.
It wasn't just a busy day for punters, but the many Malaysians who shared photos and videos of yesterday's antics on social media.
In one shop, a punter brought his pet snake to purchase a ticket, believing the slithery serpent would bring him good luck.
At another unidentified outlet, the betting fever reached a boiling point when several punters got into a fistfight.
While the fight drew curious looks from onlookers queuing to buy their numbers, it did little to budge them from their places. The video of the fight has since gone viral.
By the end of the night, most punters' dizzying dreams of becoming an overnight millionaire turned to dust after it was reported that the jackpot was won by three people.
According to Sports Toto's Facebook page, the jackpot was won by three lucky winners, each walking away with RM34.92 million. Additionally, multiple winners also won a shared total of RM17 million.
This was the first time that the Sports Toto jackpot hit the RM100 million mark.
In 2022, the prize money stood at RM97.7 million before it was won by two punters in Penang and Selangor.
Earlier this week, it was reported that the jackpot would exceed the RM100 million mark.
