KUALA TERENGGANU: The wife of 47-year-old mentally disabled man, Ahmad Nor Al Faizan Jusoh, said the family will never forgive those who assaulted her husband during an incident at a farmer's market here recently.
Faridah Abdul Karim also said that she has no plans to withdraw the case and that she will leave it to the police to investigate and action over the incident.
"We (the family) will not forgive those who assaulted my husband, even though someone has called to meet and resolve the matter.
"At this point, we are not ready to meet and resolve the case without legal proceedings," she said.
The 44-year-old housewife reiterated that, to this day, she and her family cannot bear to watch the clip of the incident, as the actions of those who assaulted her husband were excessive.
"We feel angry and sad when seeing my husband treated like an animal, including being dragged when we looked at the clip," she said when met at her home in Kampung Tok Adis, Kuala Ibai, today.
Faridah said that her husband's condition, who is now receiving treatment at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital's psychiatry ward, has stabilised, and the family has been allowed to visit him.
"My husband has never been aggressive, especially towards us and the children, although there are times when he likes to nag," she said.
Faridah added that despite his mental health issues, her husband is very kind, never misses his prayers, enjoys giving charity, and is well-known by the public, including traders at the weekly farmers' market held every Friday.
Commenting on the noodle seller who demanded RM10,000 in compensation, as shared on social media, Faridah said the price for the two pans of fried noodles that were overturned is exorbitant.
Earlier, the family received a visit from the political secretary of Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin.
In the incident, the victim was said to have crashed into a stall while riding his motorcycle at about 9.30am.
The collision caused goods from the vendor's stall to spill. The victim was then beaten by several men, resulting in injuries.
So far, five men, aged between 18 and 60, have been detained to assist in the investigation.
