Wife surprises husband with RM31,000 cash bouquet for 31st birthday

KOTA BARU: A woman went above and beyond to show her appreciation for her husband's sacrifices, gifting him a stunning cash bouquet worth RM31,000 for his birthday.

Nia Syaqiera, 30, said that the amount symbolised her husband Mohamad Rahim Md Asri's age, as he turned 31 on Jan 18.

The beauty product entrepreneur said that she had been planning the extravagant gift since last year.

"I gave him a replica cheque worth RM18,194 last year, representing his date and year of birth. After that, I started saving for this cash bouquet.

"Since he turned 31 this year, I decided to gift him RM31,000, which I saved up myself," she said.

Nia revealed that her husband was completely unaware of the surprise.

"I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, and he said he wanted a mobile phone. I bought it for him and gave it to him before his birthday, but he had no idea about the bouquet. I kept it a secret and ordered it a week before his special day."

On the night of his birthday, the florist arrived at midnight to deliver the bouquet, leaving Mohamad Rahim deeply touched.

"He was completely moved when he received it," Nia said.

Despite receiving such a generous gift, her husband chose to share part of the RM31,000.

"He gave RM1,000 each to our eight employees, and he also shared some with my mother, his mother, and even to me — though I initially declined," she added.

Nia said that while the gift was substantial, it couldn't match her husband's sacrifices.

"RM31,000 is a lot of money, but it doesn't compare to my husband's sacrifices. I'll never forget how he insisted on marrying me just two months after my late father passed away in 2016. Even though we faced financial constraints, we had a 'nikah gantung' (deferred solemnisation)."

Nia also praised her husband for helping her and her mother care for her brother, Shafiq Alami Sabri, 38, who has a disability and lives with them.

"It's rare to find a man like him nowadays," she said.

Looking to the future, Nia expressed her hopes for their relationship.

"I hope our love lasts forever, and one day, I can gift him a positive pregnancy test. We haven't been blessed with children yet, but that's something I wish for every year on his birthday."

While many people sent well-wishes, Nia also faced criticism from some who questioned the amount of money spent.

"Some people called it wasteful, and others even worried my husband might marry another woman," she said.

Despite this, Nia remains grateful for the support and affection she has received.
