PBS, STAR should settle resentment, says Bersatu

KENINGAU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sabah has expressed hope for its partners in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition to resolve their hostilities amicably.

Sabah Bersatu Youth vice-chief Rafie Robert said both Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Parti Solidarity Tanah Airku (STAR) presidents should meet and discuss ways to douse their public spat.

The two parties had been embroiled in political mudslinging on policy issues including over the Malaysian Agreement 1963.

"During these challenging times, we need political stability to enable the government leaders, including from PBS and STAR to focus on helping the people adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The people are depressed by movement restrictions. This is the time for us to the people who had given us their mandate and to appreciate the support extended during the last state election.

"Unstable political situation will hurt the people because changes in the government will lead to a change of policies. It is even worse if the people are asked to go to the polls again."

On PBS's intention to work with opposition party Parti Warisan Sabah, Rafie said it would not sit well with the people who had voted for PBS in the last state election.

He also said PBS and STAR should avoid making public of their spats to prevent clashes between their respective supporters.
