'Explain voice recording allegedly between you and Anwar', Zahid told

SEREMBAN: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been urged to explain to grassroot members the recording of a telephone conversation allegedly between him and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

This follows reports by a Malay daily, which quoted a source saying Zahid had admitted to party leaders that it was his voice in the recording of the telephone conversation which exposed the cooperation between him and Anwar.

Umno Youth exco member Raihan Husni said he felt that it was as if he had been deceived by the Bagan Datuk member of Parliament.

"At first, he (Zahid) denied that it was him in the recording of the conversation which went viral. And now, he has admitted that it is true (it was authentic).

"We feel like we were deceived by his statements over the matter. As a leader, he should be responsible over matters or the statements issued by him.

"As grassroot member, we need an explanation from him over his ties with Anwar in relation to the recording of the phone conversation," said Raihan when contacted today.

Raihan also said he was flabbergasted that there was no apology from Zahid over the matter until today.

He added that the reports which suggested Zahid had allegedly admitted that it was his voice in the recording not only raised eyebrows among members in the party's youth wing but also among grassroot members.
