KOTA BARU: Pas has described its current ties with other local political entities as a "cross party political cooperation".
The Islamic party's secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said such a political cooperation was a fresh development in the country.
"As one of the oldest political parties in the country, it has been Pas' wish to cooperate with all parties under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government such as Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan) and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
"It has been our desire to carry out the people's mandate and under the leadership of the new Prime Minister, this kind of cooperation (among political parties) like the recent MoU with few political parties creates a new (political) landscape in the country," said Takiyuddin who is the Energy and Natural Resources Minister.
The Kota Baru MP told this to reporters after presenting a laptop to four excellent students at his Parliament Service Centre here today.
He said Pas would stick to its prior statement of backing the PN government in the 15th General Election (GE15).
"Pas is optimistic that this kind of cooperation will benefit both the country and the people," he added.
Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday said the party was optimistic that Pas would continue to cooperate with PN especially in GE15.
He said to date, Pas leaders and members had always been supportive and have always taken part in meetings and discussing agendas that PN was fighting for.
He added when PN was registered, Pas was one of the sponsors and it has always been with PN before other parties joined.
