KOTA BARU: Six-hundred Pas members and supporters have joined PKR last week, the latter announced today.
Kelantan PKR chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Supardi Md Noor said their move to the party was made through a simple ceremony in Tanah Merah.
Also present during the ceremony was PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
Supardi said the 600 were from the Gual Ipoh constituency, where the state seat was won by Barisan Nasional in the 14th General Election.
"They left Pas due to lack of confidence in the party's leadership. They said the (Kelantan) Pas government does not uphold the people's interest anymore," Supardi said when contacted.
He also claimed more Pas members would join PKR soon.
"There is a new political wave set to take place in Kelantan."
