Umno sources confirm Tajuddin dropped as MKT member

KUALA LUMPUR: Pasir Salak Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has been dropped from the Umno Supreme Working Council (MKT).

Party sources confirmed that the move to drop Tajuddin was informed by Umno Secretary -General, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, in a letter issued on Tuesday.

"Yes (dropped)," he said without elaborating further when asked the reason behind Tajuddin being dropped from the party's top policymaking body.

He added the decision to drop any MKT member or appoint a new MKT member was under the purview of the party president.

Tajuddin is an appointed Umno MKT Member, nominated by party president, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He lost his bid to wrest one of the three party vice-president's post in the 2018 party polls before he was appointed to the MKT and also as Umno's Election Director.

Apart from Tajuddin, Zahid had also appointed several party leaders into the MKT. They include Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad, Datuk Rosni Sohar, Datuk Yaakub Khan and Datuk Arman Azha Abu Hanifah.

It was reported that Zahid, through a letter dated June 21 issued by Ahmad Maslan, had terminated Tajuddin's appointment as an Umno MKT member.

Ahmad Maslan did not state the reason for Tajuddin's dismissal in the letter, other than hoping that the federal lawmaker would continue his services as a committed party member and congratulated him on his appointment as ambassador.

Earlier this week Tajuddin had accepted his letter of appointment as Malaysian ambassador to Indonesia from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
