Zuraida: PBM yet to send official application to join BN

MELAKA: Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) has yet to send an official application to join Barisan Nasional (BN) as part of a move to form a new coalition of parties to face the 15th General Election (GE15).

PBM president-elect Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin said the matter was being discussed and would be finalised by the party's leadership in the near future.

"I have not yet sent a letter of application to join BN. We will finalise the matter in the near future through discussions involving the party's top leadership.

"In the current government, there are BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN), but PN always clashes with BN," she said after a working visit to Ting Agro Enterprise Cocoa Farm, Panchor, here today.

Zuraida said she had offered PBM's participation in PN as part of its common struggle in the political pact.

"I want to help strengthen them (PN) between a multi-racial party with one led by a woman, as women's leadership in the country is low.

"PBM is a strong grassroots party, with 150 divisions, and will change the political landscape," she adds.

PBM president Larry Sng was previously reported of saying that the party backed the government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

In a related matter, Zuraida confirmed she has not yet met Ismail Sabri to discuss her status in the cabinet.
