No GE15 appointment letters for troublemakers in PKR, warns Anwar

SHAH ALAM: Troublemakers promoting unhealthy competition within PKR will not receive their appointment letters to contest in the 15th General Election (GE15).

In issuing the warning, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he would not compromise with those working to divide the party from within.

"I will not forgive any of you in division or branch or woman wing or the youth wing if you continue with this competition.

"If it continues, I guarantee that the appointment letters will not find their way to you," he said in his policy speech during the PKR 16th national congress here today.

Citing the February 2020 Sheraton Move that saw the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government, Anwar told PKR members to stay loyal to the people's struggles.

Without mentioning names, Anwar reiterated his famous "Si Kitol" speech during PKR's congress in 2019, in which he criticised his then deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali for betraying him.

"Last time (in 2019) I talked about Si Kitol and such. We have so many regrets. Some told me that I should not have been that hard (on Azmin).

"But ladies and gentlemen, the information we received was correct. There was indeed a 'Si Kitol' (traitor) in our party. It was a great betrayal.

"And it's a lesson for us all. Don't forget our ideals (or be) easily swayed by the shiny powers and wealth.

"There was once a person who called himself a reformist but when he was given a test with power and wealth, he became blind and so, his ideals and principles were all forgotten."

During the Reformasi days in the late 1990s after Anwar was sacked from the cabinet and subsequently jailed, Azmin became his top general in protecting PKR as well as ensuring the party's success in elections.

Although the bad blood between Anwar and Azmin is believed to have started after the 2014 Kajang Move, the fight did not become public until a few months before the Sheraton Move happened.
