PONTIAN: All 191 Umno Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings at the divisional level nationwide have been directed to launch their election machinery for the 15th General Election (GE15).
Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the move to launch GE15 election machinery at the divisional levels must be undertaken as polls are getting nearer.
"No matter when the date, GE15 is definitely getting closer, not (moving) further away.
"A total of 191 sections of Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings throughout Malaysia today until Sunday are conducting their respective wing meetings.
"When the conference takes place today, tomorrow and the day after, the opening speech of the head of the division or the head of the wing can officially launch the GE15 Women, Youth and Puteri election machinery of the division.
"The GE15 machinery for each division needs to be officially launched because eventually the election will take place."
Ahmad Maslan said this at a press conference before opening the Pontian division's Wanita Umno meeting here today.
On Aug 4, Umno Supreme Council had set for Umno branch meetings to take place between Aug 15 and Sept 18. Meanwhile, meetings involving the Wanita, Youth and Puteri meetings at the divisional level will take place on Oct 7, 8 and 9.
The Umno delegates meeting involving the respective divisions will take place on Oct 14, 15 and 16, whereas the Umno General Assembly will take place between Nov 23 and 26.
This is a non-election year for all three levels and wings of the Barisan Nasional backbone.
