Pas to decide on GE15 candidates next week [NSTTV]

KOTA BARU: Pas is expected to finalise its candidates for the 15th General Election (GE15) next week.

Its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, said candidates for the state and parliamentary seats were being finalised by the party headquarters.

"The lists (of candidates) are in the final stages of being perused. We expect to decide on the candidates before the Election Commission (EC) announces the polling date," said the former Kota Baru member of parliament.

Takiyuddin, who is the caretaker energy and natural resources minister told reporters this after launching the ministry's Carnival @ Kota Baru Prihatin here today.

Present were the ministry's secretary-general Datuk Rosli Isa and Kelantan Community Unity, Culture, Heritage and Tourism Committee chairman Major (R) Datuk Md Anizam Ab Rahman.

Takiyuddin said the three-day carnival, which began yesterday, was the first to be held in Kota Baru and was expected to attract more than 5,000 people.

"The carnival is being held with the cooperation of 13 agencies under the ministry. It will be an annual programme."

Meanwhile, EC secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak recently said the agency would iron out details of GE15 and the Bugaya by-election in Sabah at a special meeting on Oct 20.

The Bugaya by-election is being called following the death of assemblyman Manis Muka Mohd Darah, 65, on Nov 17, 2020. The by-election was put on hold due to the proclamation of Emergency in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Emergency was lifted on Oct 6.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the dissolution of Parliament on Oct 10 this year, paving the way for GE15.
