Zahid: Stop spreading edited clip of my speech

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has told his detractors to stop spreading an edited video of his speech highlighting his statement about "warlords".

He said this was not the first time as the recorded speech had been previously edited and shared on the Internet.

The edited clip highlighted only the part of him saying how "warlords" in the party used to flex their muscles and determine who would be in or out of the race to contest elections, without the part where he said such a practice was no longer applicable in the party.

Zahid said his detractors should use technology for good and not otherwise.

"This is a similar strategy they used against Barisan Nasional leaders in the 14th General Election. They are using the same trick for this year's election.

"Stop deception, incitement and slander in politics. Do not lose sight of the law and morality in politics for the sake of power because there is no blessing behind it," he said in a Facebook post.

In the speech, Zahid was also heard urging the party to scout for political talents in its bid to recapture Selangor.

The Umno president was also quoted as being confident that people would not be deceived again by choosing stability and prosperity over Pakatan Harapan's political interests in the 15th General Election.

He added that the country and the people's wellbeing could be secured should voters deny the opposition a win.
