GE15: Anwar optimistic about winning Tambun

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is keeping his hopes high on winning the Tambun parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Asked about his chances of wresting the seat from incumbent Tambun member of parliament Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, Anwar merely answered: "Cautiously good."

This was amid opinions by political analysts that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman and PKR president has no choice but to win Tambun in GE15.

They had likened the situation to a "do-or-die mission" and believe that Anwar's defeat would spell the end of political career and his longstanding bid to become prime minister.

PKR central leadership council member Elizabeth Wong has said that placing Anwar in Tambun was not a gamble and it was to win the seat and reclaim Perak.

She said none of the council members had even entertained thoughts of Anwar losing.

Wong said they hoped he would be able to galvanise enough support so that the other seats in Perak would also see wins for PH.
