KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for Bentong, Young Syefura Othman was disappointed when she heard that the incumbent, Wong Tack, is set to contest against her as an independent in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Young Syefura, the former Ketari assemblyman, said she was hoping to work with Wong Tack, who won the seat in the last general election with a majority of 2,032 votes against then-MCA president, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
"As he was the former Bentong representative, I would have wanted to learn from him.
"I respect him as a friend and comrade," she was reported saying.
Young Syefura, also known as Rara, said she had somehow expected it would happen.
Yesterday, Rara was named one of the candidates in an announcement by DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke to contest four parliamentary seats in Pahang.
DAP will contest at Bentong, Raub, Lipis, and Cameron Highlands.
Wong Tack later announced that he would stand in Bentong as an independent after he was dropped as a candidate by DAP.
