GE15: Anwar "in the lead" in Tambun, claims Rafizi

KUALA LUMPUR: While Tambun might be a risky seat for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the PKR president is in the lead, claimed deputy president Rafizi Ramli.

Addressing the crowd at an event to announce the party's candidates for the 15th General Election (GE15), Rafizi said the party had never made any decision without doing proper research.

"Many people have been asking whether Anwar can win the seat. (But) we at PKR never make any decision without doing the necessary.

"We studied the voters' support (in Tambun) and after we had confirmed the matter, Anwar was named to contest the parliamentary seat.

"(And) if today is the polling day, with the race being between Pakatan Harapan, Perikatan Nasional, and Barisan Nasional, in Tambun; Anwar would be in the lead," he said.

Meanwhile, Rafizi called on PKR candidates to immediately meet the people on the ground and the party's election machinery.

"The party's leadership had a tough time finalising the list. Therefore, you (the candidates) have a week or two to meet and get closer to the people.

"The happy time is over after tonight (after the announcement of the candidates)."
