JELI: Zahari Kechik only has one mission in mind when he was selected as the candidate for Jeli parliamentary constituency to replace Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
The 62-year-old wanted to continue Mustapa's legacy despite the challenge, since the seat has been Mustapa's stronghold since 1995.
"I consider Tok Pa (as Mustapa is fondly known) as my idol and will continue his legacy for the people of Jeli.
"I willl use all my experience while l was with him to provide good service to Jeli voters.
"I admit that it might be a bit hard for me but with Tok Pa behind me, l am confident that l can overcome all the challenges," said, Zahari who is Mustapa's political secretary.
Zahari, who is contesting under the Bersatu ticket, said local community as well as Pas supporters, have accepted him.
"I could see their honesty when they came to support me when l submitted my nomination form today. Tok Pa and my two wives were also present," he said.
The father of six submitted his application form at the Jeli District and Land office here.
He would face off three other candidates in the coming 15th General Election.
The other three are Nor Wahida Patuan of Barisan Nasional, Md Radzi Wahab (PH) and Prof Ir Dr Muhammad Daud (GTA).
