KUALA LUMPUR: Tian Chua is likely to be sacked after he chose to contest as independent candidate in Batu, said PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi cited the case of the Sarawak state election, where a Pakatan Harapan member, upset at not being selected as a candidate, decided to run as an independent in the 15th General Election.
"What we did was we suspended (his membership), he lost that race and his suspension was upheld," he said.
Fahmi said PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli was right in saying that any action against Tian Chua would come after GE15.
"Rafizi is right because this is not a state election, this is a federal election. All our machinery, all our leadership is focused on our respective campaigns.
"If it was a state election, then I think action (against Tian Chua) would be taken immediately," he told New Straits Times after a walkabout programme in the Pantai Dalam morning market today.
Fahmi is seeking to defend the Lembah Pantai parliamentary seat.
Yesterday, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Tian Chua would be sacked for contesting in Batu as an independent candidate, labeling the latter's actions as "too much."
Meanwhile, Fahmi also downplayed the severity of Tian Chua's actions within Pakatan Harapan, saying that Barisan Nasional had it "ten times worse."
"We have one case, Tian Chua. For BN and PN (Perikatan Nasional), there are various cases of party-hopping, such as (Datuk Seri) Shahidan Kassim from BN now under PN, (Datuk) Khairuddin Aman Razali from Kuala Nerus, formerly Pas-PN and now BN, the candidate from Maran (Datuk Seri Ismail Abd Muttalib) from BN and now PN.
"(Datuk) Zahidi Zainul (Abidin) was BN the last time. He did not choose BN or PN, he went independent.
"So I'm thankful we only have Tian Chua. It doesn't give us headache at all, it's clear cut. There's no way we will support someone like that but for Umno or Pas, for BN and PN, it's a mess," he said.
