GE15: Perikatan Nasional confident of sound victory in Padang Serai and Tioman

KULIM: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has expressed confidence that Perikatan Nasional will win big in Padang Serai parliamentary seat here and the Tioman state seat in Pahang based on the 15th General Election (GE15) results on Saturday.

He said the confidence was also based recent developments over the ongoing tussle over the appointment of the new Prime Minister.

"Based on the current wave of support for PN and the people's rejection for Barisan Nasional, plus the recent developments which have triggered awareness among the people, we are confident of winning one more seat for PN in Padang Serai parliamentary seat and also the Tioman state seat.

"We are highly confident that Perikatan Nasional will have a smooth sailing to achieve victories in both seats," he told reporters at the KHTP Sports Complex here today.

Sanusi, who is also state PN chairman, was accompanying the coalition's candidate Datuk Azman Nasruddin who arrived for the Padang Serai parliamentary seat nomination process.

The Padang Serai polls had been postponed to Dec 7 following the death of PH candidate M. Karupaiya,69, who died from a heart attack last Wednesday.

The polls initially saw a six-cornered battle between PN, PH, Barisan Nasional, Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang), Parti Warisan and an independent candidate.
