Stop arguing about PM's appointment, says Annuar

KUALA LUMPUR: Ketereh Umno division chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa urged the people to stop taking issue with the appointment of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister, as it was done with the approval of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and in accordance with the law.

He said Anwar's appointment as Malaysia's 10th prime minister was supported by the majority of members of parliament (MPs) and with consent of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

"Our focus now is to form a government that is responsible in carrying out its duties and deliver its services to the people and country.

"In this situation, we need not only the national unity, but also national reconciliation," he said in a statement today.

He urged all parties to stop raising the issue and strengthen cooperation, adding that the healing process would give rise to a solid and strong nation in facing the ever-challenging economy, social and global politics.

"Let's hope that the 221 MPs will carry out their responsibilities to the best of their abilities," he said

Anwar Ibrahim is expected to announce his cabinet soon. The unity government comprises Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, with backing from Malaysian United Democratic Alliance, Parti Warisan, Parti Bangsa Malaysia and independent MPs.
