PN to name opposition leader in parliament soon

KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional deputy chairman Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the coalition had picked a name to be made its opposition leader in the parliament.

"We already have the name for our opposition leader and PN will issue a statement soon," he said, when met outside the Sentul police headquarters today.

This comes after PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a statement on Nov 25 said the coalition would remain as an opposition instead of taking part in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's unity government.

He recently said that PN will serve to carry out checks-and-balances in the Parliament by conveying the people's voice, in line with the principle of parliamentary democracy.
