Annuar Musa's sacking 'highly likely', says close aide

KUALA LUMPUR: It is highly likely that Umno veteran Tan Sri Annuar Musa has been sacked from the party in a decision said to have been made during last night's supreme council meeting.

A close aide to Annuar, when asked to confirm if the 66-year-old former Ketereh MP had indeed been sacked, briefly replied: "Looks like yes..." in a message via WhatsApp today.

He however said Umno has not officially conveyed to Annuar the news and reasons behind the decision.

He said it was best to wait for Annuar's official comments on the matter.

There were reports of the sacking of Annuar, along with Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim's wife Datin Seri Shamsiah Md Yassin, who was also Arau Wanita chief, as well as Datuk Seri Ismail Abd Muttalib's wife Maran Wanita chief Datin Seri Fatimah Kassim.

They were reported to have been removed from Umno for allegedly sabotaging the party.

Yesterday, it was reported that Umno had sacked three of its members for tarnishing the party's image during the 15th General Election campaign.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said the trio comprised of one division head and two Wanita division chiefs.

He, however, did not disclose the identities of the party leaders.
