Chow: Don't underestimate the 'green tsunami'

BAYAN LEPAS: Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Chow Kon Yeow has reminded the pact's leadership in the state not to take lightly the 'green tsunami' which has seen Perikatan Nasional receiving widespread voter support in the 15th General Election (GE15).

The Penang Chief Minister said the pact needed to defend and maintain at least 37 state legislative assembly seats won in the 14th General Election (GE14) in the next state election.

"Our target (PH) is at least 37 seats, if we set a lower target, (then) our achievement will be lower.

"It is important to set high objectives in the state election...we need to plan a strategy, work hard at every level of parliament and state assembly, and start working seriously," he said here today.

Chow said this in his speech at a tea party for the GE15 machinery of the Batu Maung state assembly constituency in Sungai Ara.

The event was also attended by Bayan Baru Member of Parliament Sim Tze Tzin and Batu Maung assemblyman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain.

Chow also asked the people of Penang to help the government led by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in rebuilding the country.

"We hope this Federal government can remain, do not repeat the '22-month government', at least complete one term (GE15)," he said.
